About Our School

Atwood McDonald Elementary School was established in 1967. It is named for Judge Atwood McDonald, a long-time Fort Worth resident who had a successful legal career. Judge McDonald served many years on the Fort Worth ISD School Board and was President of the Board for part of his tenure.

The school serves the surrounding neighborhood kids from Pre-K through 5th grade and is home to Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) and Reaching Independence through Structured Education (RISE) classrooms that provide services for students with developmental disabilities.

We have been a Common Sense Recognized School since 2021 and strive to make our students excellent digital citizens in our modern technological world.

Atwood has a growing number of programs and is continually striving to meet the needs of our students and our surrounding community!
